Our Congregation is associated with the Christian Church Disciples of Christ of the United States and Canada http://www.disciples.org/ and Kansas Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). http://kansasdisciples.org/ Our denomination was founded on American soil in the early 1800s. Founding ideals were unity in Christ and openness and diversity in practice and belief. The Disciples of Christ aspire to be a “movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.”
The Confession of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
As members of the Christian Church,
We confess that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of the living God,
and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world.
Our congregation is a community of ordinary people who feel called by God to “share God’s hospitality in our neighborhood and beyond.” We respond to that call by worshiping and sharing our “God of 2nd Chances.” “We will accomplish this mission through encountering God in worship, building a community of forgiveness and radical hospitality, and reaching out with a mission of 2nd chances.”
“We are committed to worshiping God; growing in faith and knowledge of God through Bible study and prayer; building relationships by listening and communicating God’s love and ours and identifying the needs of neighbors near our church and beyond; and creating 2nd chances through stewardship and mission.”
What this all means is that we are growing into the people that God calls us to be, as individuals and as a church family. If you look very hard, you will probably find people much like yourself. Certainly you will find people who will accept you just as you are, and who will invite you to join us on this journey of serving God and serving God’s people here in Pittsburg, Kansas, and beyond.
